How No Minimum Custom Shirts Are Possible

Today we’re going to talk about how no minimum custom T-shirts are possible now.

It wasn’t too long ago that this wasn’t possible. About 10 to 15 years ago you could not get one custom T-shirt. I mean you could, but it wasn’t commercially available to everybody. But here we are in the year 2022 and the concept of no minimum custom T-shirts are everywhere and everyone has the technology or the possibility to tap into that technology to get themselves custom T-shirts made.

How DTG Makes It Possible

The thing that makes no minimum custom T-shirts possible is a little piece of technology that is known as direct to garment printing. You probably have heard of direct to garment before. Hopefully you’ve heard of it through our website. Because we talk about direct to garment printing a lot. Primarily because WDFA Custom Tees is a direct to garment printer.

Direct to garment for those of you that don’t know, is printing directly onto the garment. A solution is sprayed  on to the garment and then its cured at high heat. The garment is then run through a direct to garment printer. Which is like a bigger version of the personal desktop printer that you have at home. And then we print directly onto the garment, curing under heat again. And boom, we have just created a no minimum custom T-shirt.

Now there’s many benefits to direct to garment outside of the no minimum, and the reason why this is possible is if you were to do screen printing, you actually would have to print screens out and get it produced. Or you could do sublimation printing, but the only problem with that is you would have to stay within the realm of polyester, which some don’t prefer.  

Direct to Garment also presents the possibilities of colors that you wouldn’t usually see in screen printing. There’s a limitation in screen printing to how many colors you put on a shirt before it becomes inefficient. You don’t have that problem with direct to garment printing, and then you also have the benefit of being able to use gradients, which you can’t do in screen printing but in direct to garment.
